Field Safety Tips

Updated: May 10, 2007

  1. Check to make sure your radio is off before arriving at the field.  ALWAYS get your frequency pin BEFORE turning your radio on for any reason.  This is a simple thing to do but there are problems with it every year.  This can result in many $$$ down the drain and cause severe injury and even death!

  2. NEVER EVER!!!! lean over the prop to adjust the engine.  Take a second to get behind the prop.  A sharp blade stuck in your face or neck, etc. can sure ruin your day or even your life!!  Many engines, especially 4 strokes, will throw a prop with little or NO WARNING!!

  3. Do a proper range test with the engine running 1/2 power or more.  Most modern radios recommend about 100 feet with the antenna down.  If it is not working right, DO NOT FLY IT!!

Always range test a new or repaired model.

  4. PLEASE DON'T GO FLYING ALONE, IT IS NOT A SAFE IDEA, ESPECIALLY AT AN ISOLATED FIELD LIKE OURS, WHERE NO ONE WILL HEAR OUR CRIES FOR HELP!!
